boycrazy, volume 1 is a collection of 7 true stories, 11 paintings, 9 personal photos, and 1 poem. The idea came to be when I was telling a friend a couple stories that would end up here (Bed and Toluca Lake), when he suggested I write these down. Suddenly it all flashed in my head; a zine of interesting encounters, each accompanied by a new painting, and I could include some photos and even a recent poem I was happy with. I had originally called the series ‘Encounters’ up until the very last days of completing it, when I was walking to the gym and the term boycrazy came to mind. I thought, that would be a fun title for an album. And then it hit me, I could use it for my “album”! I wanted the writing style to be candid and easy to read, like I’m talking to the reader, and I wanted the zine as a whole to be fun and light, hence ‘Encounters’ felt somewhat serious to me.

So much of my work is about other people, so it was new for me to immortalize my own experiences. I had so much fun working on this zine. It was actually the most fun I’ve ever had working on a project. I hope you like it, and I’ll see you for volume 2!
